5 Easy Ways to Style a Blanket Scarf

A blanket scarf is hands down my #1 fall and winter style accessory. I get asked all the time how I wrap my scarf and make it look cute and not just like a frumpy ball of warmth, so I thought I’d make a little how-to for everyone.

The scarf featured I got in Target’s Dollar Section a couple years ago. Even though it was $7, that is still such a freaking steal!! I honestly get all my blanket scarfs from Target’s Dollar Section, because they’re WAY cheaper than almost all others and still great quality and they always have different color combos every year!

  1. Simple Lay Over: Fold your blanket scarf in half diagonally. It should look like a triangle when you do so. Slightly fold or twist a couple times and drape around next with two longest ends in the front.

2. Wrap and Tie: Again with your blanket folded into a triangle, but this time drape it around your neck with the two long ends behind you and then wrap one more time so the long ends are back in the front. Lastly, fold one end over the other to create a knot.

3. Simple Knot: Drape the scarf around your next exactly how you did in #1, then fold one end over the other to create a loose knot. All done!

4. The Hidden Knot: While holding your blanket scarf in an upside down triangle (meaning the largest angle in facing the floor) drape it around your neck so the two ends are behind you. Next, wrap the two ends behind you once more, bringing them to the front. Lastly, behind the large front triangle you’ve created, tie the two ends in a knot to keep the scarf from coming loose while moving around and whatnot.

5. Imitation Infinity Scarf: Follow the same directions has above, but instead of leaving the largest triangle part loose, tuck it up into the hidden knot for the illusion for an infinity scarf.

Kristin Ess Working Texture Loose Styling Powder Review + Instagram Giveaway

WHOO! This stuff is the bomb.com! I’ve been using it for about a week or two now and I am obsessed! I cannot go one day without using this stuff now. I have a LOT of hair, (Ask my hair stylist, bless her heart), it’s heavy and gets weighed done, but that is no match for this stuff! Just a couple sprinkles and BAM! Super model volume every time!

I have tried other powders like this, Not Your Mothers Girl Powder and Sexy Hair Powder Play to name a couple, but none really compare to this. I used Not your mothers for a loooong time and it’s a great product, but there is just something about Kristen Ess that gives me EASY volume that lasts all day (without having to reapply it at all), doesn’t make my hair feel gross, and it gives me crazy good volume. What’s not to love??

SPRINKLE, FLUFF, DONE!!

Halloween Make-Up: Glam Skull

Day 3 of Halloween week on the blog and I’m sharing with you my FAVORITE halloween make-up look!! This glam skull look is SO easy to do and all you really need is black eyeshadow and eyeliner!

THE LOOK: GLAM SKULL

IMG_2848IMG_2850
Tarte Shape Tape

W7 Colour Me Buff and In the Buff Lightly Toasted Eye Shadow Pallette

ELF Black Liquid Eyeliner

Ardell Magnetic Lashes

Urban Decay 24/7 Black Eyeliner

Dermablend Loose Setting Powder

White Hair Spray

How to Get this Look:

Step 1: Apply “Onyx” from the “In the Buff” eyeshadow palette all over the lid. (Note: Apply lightly and in layers! You want it to be dark, but black eyeshadow is a dangerous game!!) You can apply this pretty messy and BLEND BLEND BLEND into your crease, inside corner and up past your inner brow.

Step 2: Apply “Up in Smoke” over the matte black just applied to give it little shimmer – Apply this to ONLY the LID and crease!

Step 3: Apply “Dawn” from the inner corner to about 3/4 of the way before your outer corner.

Step 4: Apply black liner all around your eye from inner to outer corner on upper and lower waterline.

Step 5: Take black liquid liner and trace along your upper lash line from about half-way to the outer corner and create a small wing.

Step 6: Apply and blend out concealer under your eyes, and cover your lips as well. Apply a white or very pale powder foundation over your entire face.

Step 7: Take black liquid liner and create a slightly-upward horizontal line from each corner of your  mouth and draw short lines from end to end crossing the long black line.

Step 8: With the black eyeliner trace a teardrop shape with a rigged top on the tip of your nose and fill in with with black liquid liner.

Step 9: Apply the false magnetic lashes and apply black mascara to your bottom lash line.

Step 10: (Optional) Curl your hair and spray white colored hairspray all throughout your hair to complete the look!

Feel free to ask me any questions via this post or DM me and send me pictures if you try these looks out on my Instagram!

Stay spooky!
