We all want perfect pearly white teeth, don’t we? Well getting your teeth professionally whitened isn’t exactly the cheapest thing in the world…

I’ve always struggled with the image of my teeth. From a very young age I had always been make fun of my teeth; they were too big for my mouth and crooked as anything! Eventually came time to get braces and I couldn’t have been more excited. I was finally going to have my dream teeth when all was said and done. FINALLY, after FOUR years of being a brace face came the day that felt like would never come and I got my braces off! That day was also the first and only time I’ve ever had my teeth professionally whitened. I was so proud of new teeth, but eventually the shine faded, I lost my retainer so my teeth began to shift back, and I started drinking coffee daily.

As much as I would love to get my teeth professionally whitening again, I typically don’t have $400 to $800 (the average range for getting your teeth whitened at the dentist) laying around to do so. As a result of being a broke twenty-something year old, I have probably tried every at-home whitening product/trick under the sun, but nothing really stood out to me over the years.

When Smile Brilliant reached out to me and asked if I’d be interesting in trying their at-home teeth whitening system, I was a little hesitant due to the fact that I have fairly sensitive teeth. That’s when I learned they have a specific whitening system designed just for sensitive teeth! So not only do they have a products for different types of teeth, but their price point in incomparable to other professional whiten treatments, their products are vegan and cruelty free and everything is so simple to use!

Smile Brilliant sends you everything you need including the mixtures for your impressions, teeth whiten gel and desensitizing gel (if you ordered for sensitive teeth), instructions on how to take your impressions and how to whiten your teeth once you receive your trays.

For the past 21 days, I have been whitening every night before bed in increasing increments from 45 minutes to 3 hours. I know what you’re thinking… “3 hours?! That’s SO long!” Yes, 3 hours is a good chunk of time, but the great thing is that you can knock out other things while whitening! You can whitening while getting ready for the day, cleaning, watching tv, or even have them on while you’re working. REMEMBER, the trays are specifically designed for YOUR teeth, so you can barely tell when they are on! I took mine with me when I went to visit family for Christmas and had a full conversation with my mom while whitening. After we were done chatting, she had seen the empty tray case sitting on the bathroom counter and asked if I had something on my teeth. She had no idea I had anything on my teeth the whole time.

Overall, I would recommend this product. It has noticeably whitened my teeth, especially compared to any other teeth whitening method I’ve used. See my before and after below:

Holiday Make-Up: Full Face Tutorial

Today I’m going to show you how I went from the left to the right. This simple glam holiday look is super easy to achieve, just follow my step by step tutorial below!

P.S. Links to all the products and shades I used are located at the bottom of the post.

Step 1: Apply an eye shadow primer, or if you’re like me and don’t have any (LOL), just use a little dot of concealer on your each eyelid. I used Tarte Shape Tape today.

Step 2: EYESHADOW. I used the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette for most of this look. So for my base color I used the shade “Stark”.

IMG_5014

Step 3: EYESHADOW. Using the same palette, using the shade ” apply it to your crease. It doesn’t have to be perfect, mine was actually quite messy. This gives you the slightest bit of dimension on your eye lids.

IMG_5020

Step 4: EYESHADOW. I set the UD Naked 2 palette aside for a second and grabbed my ColourPop eye shadow pod in the color “Jinxie” and applied that just to my lid.

Step 5: EYESHADOW. Picking up my UD Naked 2 palette again, I went back into my crease and the outer corner of my eye lids with the shade “Primal”. This creates a little more dramatic look without going overboard.

IMG_5032

Step 6: EYEBROWS. I do my eyebrows how I do them everyday. I use my NYX Brow Pencil and start off by making a line on the bottom outline of my eyebrow, then do the same to the top. Next, I fill it in and then blend it out with the brush end of the pencil. (Below I show you it with one done, then both done).

IMG_5024

Step 7: FOUNDATION. I use my Burt’s Bees BB Cream in the shade “light/med” (honestly too dark for me, but I haven’t gotten a lighter shade for winter yet). I apply this to the back of my hand then take my beauty blender and make four dots on my face (both cheeks, chin, and forehead), then I blend it out.

Step 8: CONCEALER. I have been loving mixing these two concealers lately. I apply as below and then blend out with my fingers as much as possible. If I feel the need I will also blend it out with my beauty blender.

Step 9: SETTING POWDER. Now that my concealer is all blended out, I take my translucent powder and set everything with it. I use Dermablend Professional Loose Setting Powder, as pictured below.

IMG_5042

Step 10: BRONZER. I take my little tiny LilyLolo Bronzer and apply that in a 3 formation on each side of my face. I start at my temple then bring it down to just under my cheekbone then bring it down one last time to my jaw line. (If you haven’t checked out Lily Lolo cosmetics, I highly recommend it and it’s all organic!!) IMG_5043

Step 11: BLUSH. I take my Avon Blush that I’ve literally had since high school and some how haven’t ran out of yet. Like seriously, I’ve had this same compact since high school.

IMG_5044

Step 12: HIGHLIGHT. Next, I take my ELF highlight pod and apply it to the tippy top of my cheek bones using my EcoTools Fan Brush. (Seriously my favorite brush)

IMG_5046

Step 13: MASCARA. Next you are going to apply mascara. I use a combo of Loreal’s Voluminous Primer and CoverGirl’s Lash Blast in shade “brown.”

IMG_5047

(This combo is EVERYTHING!!!!!)

Step 14: & THE VERY LAST STEP!! LIPSTICK. Apply your favorite red lipstick to take this simple gold eye and launch the whole look into full on holiday mode! (I used ULTA Lip Crayon that they don’t sell any longer).

Kristin Ess Working Texture Loose Styling Powder Review + Instagram Giveaway

WHOO! This stuff is the bomb.com! I’ve been using it for about a week or two now and I am obsessed! I cannot go one day without using this stuff now. I have a LOT of hair, (Ask my hair stylist, bless her heart), it’s heavy and gets weighed done, but that is no match for this stuff! Just a couple sprinkles and BAM! Super model volume every time!

I have tried other powders like this, Not Your Mothers Girl Powder and Sexy Hair Powder Play to name a couple, but none really compare to this. I used Not your mothers for a loooong time and it’s a great product, but there is just something about Kristen Ess that gives me EASY volume that lasts all day (without having to reapply it at all), doesn’t make my hair feel gross, and it gives me crazy good volume. What’s not to love??

SPRINKLE, FLUFF, DONE!!

Step 2: Apply “Up in Smoke” over the matte black just applied to give it little shimmer – Apply this to ONLY the LID and crease!

Step 4: Apply black liner all around your eye from inner to outer corner on upper and lower waterline.

Step 5: Take black liquid liner and trace along your upper lash line from about half-way to the outer corner and create a small wing.

Step 6: Apply and blend out concealer under your eyes, and cover your lips as well. Apply a white or very pale powder foundation over your entire face.

Step 7: Take black liquid liner and create a slightly-upward horizontal line from each corner of your  mouth and draw short lines from end to end crossing the long black line.

Step 9: Apply the false magnetic lashes and apply black mascara to your bottom lash line.

Halloween Make-Up – Scarcrow

Halloween make-up can be daunting if you’re not a “big” make-up person like me. Don’t get me wrong, I love a pretty eyeshadow and some lipstick every once in a while but unless I’m leaving the house to go somewhere other than the grocery store, chances are I’m not wearing make-up… but boy, do I love me some halloween makeup!!

This look was done with make-up I already had in my make-up bag. As much as I love halloween make-up, I don’t want to go out and spend a fortune on new make-up I would only use for something like this, ya feel me? #frugal

Ready to get spooky?? Enter if you dare!

THE LOOK: SCARECROW

IMG_2849IMG_2838

Make-Up Used:

ColourPop Eye Shadow in Elixir (Orange) and Jinxie (Gold)

Black Lipstick

ELF Liquid Eyeliner

Tate Shape Tape Concealer

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Liner

L’Oreal Liquid Eyeliner – Brown

Ardell Magnetic Lashes

How to get this look:

Step 1: Take an eyeshadow brush and apply Elixir. Note: It does not need to be super neat or anything like that! Then highlight under your eyebrow and inner corner with “Jinxie.”

Step 2: Take a black pencil liner and trace along your inner upper and lower waterline from corner to corner. (I used the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Liner for this part, linked above)

Step 3: Take concealer and make triangles below both eyes and blend out. You can cover and blemishes or add foundation at this point too, if you would like.

Step 4: Take black liquid liner and trace along your upper lash line from about half-way to the outer corner and create a small wing. Then on your lower lash line take the liquid liner and make a few vertical small lines from your lash line down.

Step 5: Take brown liquid liner (pencil liner works too just takes a bit more patience) and create freckles across your nose and upper cheeks to resemble freckles.

Step 6: Take a blush brush, or any round brush or eyeshadow brush will do, and orange eyeshadow (I used Elixer, the same I did for my eyeshadow, again) to create a blush circle on each cheek.

Step 7: Take an eyeshadow brush and create a teardrop shaped spot on the tip of your nose. Then take black liquid liner and trace the outside of the orange teardrop and etch small perpendicular lines along the black outline as well.

Step 8: Apply black lipstick to your lips and take your black eyeliner and draw a slight-gradual line from the corners of your mouth to just under the orange blush circles on your cheeks and create “X”s along the lines you just drew and above and below your lips!

Step 9: Apply the magnetic lashes to your upper lash line (wow, did this took some practice!!) Then, apply some black mascara to your lower lash line.

Step 10: Braid your hair, add a cute wide-brim hat, and throw on a flannel and you’re officially the cutest scarecrow in the cornfield!

I hope you find this look easy to do! Feel free to ask me any questions via this post or DM me and send me pictures if you try these looks out on my Instagram!

“You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman”

A little more than a year ago I decided to switch as many beauty and personal care products as I could to natural or organic. This came after I learned just how horrible most of the products I was using were. A lot of the products I now use I order off Amazon, so I decided I would compile a list of my favorite products!

Skinerals Organic Self-Tanner: Y’ALL. This is some of the best self-tanner I have ever used! The color is amazing and its very reasonably priced for the amount you get.

Kiss My Face Shave Cream: All-time favorite shave cream! Contains no animal products, unnecessary chemicals, or artificial colors and gives you baby smooth skin!

Acure Shampoo & Conditioner: Acure is one of my favorite natural/organic brands I have found! They have so many products and they are ALL so good! Here is my favorite shampoo and conditioner by them:

Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Liquid Soap: This stuff is magical.. It can literally be used for just about anything; shampoo, face wash, laundry, cleaning, brushing your teeth, shaving and what I mostly use it for, body wash!

Burt’s Bees Deep Cleansing Cream: This is my new favorite face wash! It is so refreshing and you get a huge bottle for a fraction of most other face wash products!

Theresa Natural Remedies Witch Hazel Cucumber Toner: Just recently started using this and it’s been a game changer for my skin!

Pacifica Beauty Coconut Probiotic Water Rehab Cream: When I started using this stuff it was a GAME CHANGER for me!! I have sensitive skin and finding a moisturizer that didn’t make my skin breakout felt impossible until I found this stuff!

Burt’s Bees BB Cream: This is my everyday go-to make up. I wear this everyday for it’s great coverage but light-wear. It is so good at evening out your skin tone but does not feel heavy on the skin.

Taking care of yourself is so important and being aware about what you are using on your skin or putting in your body is a part of that! Do your body a favor and treat yo’self to some natural and/or organic products and let me know how you like them!

How I Go Days Without Washing My Hair

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been told not to wash your hair everyday! *raises hand WAY up there* I have always been told that washing your hair daily is a BIG no-no. I do know too much cleansing can strip the healthy oils on your scalp; lessening the protection to your scalp. This is why I try to only wash my hair 2x a week, sometimes three depending on what my week looks like. My normal wash days are Sunday & Wednesday. So what do I do on the other five days of the week? Here are my tips & tricks for keeping your hair looking fresh & clean in between washes:

1. WASHING & RINSING: On days I do actually wash my hair, I wash it REALLY REALLY well. By this I mean using a good amount of product to cleanse, lathering my scalp thoroughly & making sure I rinse every last drop of shampoo out.

2. MOISTURIZING: Since I have blonde hair, I make sure to apply my purple conditioner on the days I wash my hair to protect my color, tone & hydrate! Then, after my hair is slightly towel dried, I also apply a bit of leave in condition to the ends of my hair ONLY with my hands and work it through using my fingers.

3. AIR DRYING: Letting your hair air dry as much as possible is SO important! I typically wash my hair at night, so time isn’t really an issue for me. I, also absolutely hate blow drying my hair! It takes me 5-ever to do with such thick, long hair & I don’t like combing or brushing through my hair while it’s wet or damp (TOO MUCH BREAKAGE). So once the towel comes off, I apply the leave-in conditioner & let it be. Once it is completely dry, I make sure to give it a quick brush through & apply a couple spritz of dry shampoo at my roots to help absorb dirt & oil at the start, keeping my hair looking fresher longer. (One of my favorite tips!!)

4. STYLING: For styling on day one, I typically straighten my hair. This helps sleek down any frizz & makes it easy to curl the following day. Curling it on day two helps the curls to hold longer, especially for someone with naturally mostly straight hair. Slightly dirty hair holds curls better & will help create more volume where needed! Day three or “wash day” I try to give my hair a break from any heat and will wear it up or if my curls from the previous day still look good, I’ll just leave it. The next tip is key to keeping it looking clean!

5. D-R-Y SHAMPOO: Dry shampoo is a heaven sent – can I get an amen?! As you can see in the picture above on the left, my roots are pretty dang greasy & weighed down by day three, but in less than two minutes my hair looks clean and full-bodied thanks for dry shampoo! I apply dry whenever I feel my hair is looking greasy or needs a little UMPH! My favorite dry shampoo currently is Batiste & the best part is you can get it for only $5.99 at Target or what I like to do is buy it from Marshalls, you can get TWICE the amount for only a little bit more money!!

There you have it, those are my five steps to keeping my hair looking good between washes! While I’m not a hair stylist or beauty guru, this is what works for me, keeps my hair looking fresh & allows me to keep it healthier than if I was washing it everyday! I’d love to hear your tips for keeping your hair looking fresh between washes, so drop a comment at the end of the post!
